Most large pest control companies have huge overhead costs due to advertising, company matched 401k’s, hefty insurance premiums, extensive fleet maintenance fees, share holders, and so on. Which in turn creates this “mighty beast” that now has to be fed on a regular basis by the consumer. We believe this can lead to recommendations that may not be in the best interest of the homeowner and family , but instead be in the best interest of this great “cost machine” that has been created. For example: because of these costs, companies must set monthly revenue quotas for their technicians wether the demand for service is there or not. This, we believe, can introduce incentives to take advantage of the situation like recommending monthly service for a year and binding you to a contract, when 1 to 3 visits or quarterly treatments would have solved the problem. That’s just one example of how this “beast” can influence the motives of some companies when recommending treatment options, products used, or number of treatments.
At Lane’s Pest Solutions that “beast” is not present, because we know that keeping our overhead low is vital to our ability to offer our customers true value when solving their pest control needs.
